Earth Day 2012 – Earth Day Celebrate

Environmentalists everywhere are getting ready for Earth Day 2012.

Earth Day 2012 is meant to inspire people to create ways, in their lives, that is beneficial to the natural environment of the earth. This year earth day is April 22, 2012. On this day, all over the world, individuals and groups will continue to put into place, both small and large, endeavors that are intended to aid the earth. Certainly, concerned people work on such projects throughout the year, but the creation of a specific day reminds all of us that individually we can make a difference. Each small act of consideration for the need to work towards a cleaner, healthier earth makes a difference.

Pollution, Global Warming and Climate Change

Some large problems, that plague the earth and it’s inhabitants, may seem overwhelming to the individual. However, when people join together to solve such enormous problems, such as oil spills, animal extinction, greenhouse gasses, war aftermath, water pollution, air pollution and toxic dumps, projects become more manageable. Don’t let the enormity of these issues dissuade you from joining groups that work at finding solutions. Earth day 2012 will be filled with seminars, workshops and debates, with concerned people around the world, working on these large issues. There is a place and a job for every person, if you wish to become involved.

Even if you don’t feel you have the time or inclination to be a part of one of the larger Earth Day projects, individuals and families can make a plan to change just a few things in their daily lives. Take a look at this list and reshape your world completely, or just choose one or two changes. Every step, no matter how small, adds up to a big difference towards a cleaner, healthier environment. There is no better day to begin than Earth Day and Earth Week 2012!

Go Green – Ways to Save the Planet

  • Recycling contact your local sanitation company to find out their recycling process. Usually glass, plastic and newspaper recycling are available. Learn the company’s required process for recycling these items. Many times separate bins are used for each type of item, picked up on garbage collection day.
  • Paperless Reading Go Green with paper-free reading. Invest in a green tablet or e-reader and save the trees. A paperless kids tablet is an educational tool for children. A tablet for kids will help to encourage reading and learning!
  • Gas Saving gas not only spews less pollution into the air, but saves you money. Make a concerted effort to walk or bike to work on nice-weathered days. Even if you integrate this pattern just one day a week, it will make a big difference. On other days, find out which employees follow the same route to work and form a car pool.
  • Cleaning switch to biodegradable cleaning supplies. In fact, you can make effective non-toxic cleaning supplies from items you probably already have in your home, such as vinegar, baking soda and lemon.
  • Reuse find ways to reuse items, rather than dumping them in the trash. Reuse your paper bags as wrapping paper. Kids will enjoy decorating the bags with markers, stencils and rubber stamps. Use empty food jars and cans for storing items, such as nails, screws, buttons and other small items. Make other items from old clothing, such as decorative pillows, doll clothing or table runners. If you aren’t the crafty type, use old clothing as dust rags. However, old clothing that is still in usable condition should be donated.

Go Green, Be Green and celebrate Earth Day Every Day!
